Businesses from across the fenestration industry will be familiar with the efforts required to achieve top marks in a Quality Systems Audit. In a benchmarking process that continually reviews in-house procedures, Yorkshire-based manufacturer Quickslide have undertaken their assessment under the guidance of auditor CENSolutions Ltd., for the second time this year, passing with flying colours.

Compliance with a number of requisites is compulsory for all manufacturers; the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) setting down standards including BS EN 14351 for windows and pedestrian door sets, and PAS 24:2016 which relates to the level of security applied to windows and doors on ‘New Build’ sites. Applying this level of scrutiny to a further, optional certification is not something every business is willing to do.

Ben Weber, Managing Director at Quickslide explained the importance of the audit for Quickslide:

“The fenestration market is competitive and so we wanted to find a way of sticking our heads above the parapet and telling our customers that we’re serious about providing a consistently superior service. CENSolutions visit us for two days, during which time our policies, procedures and manufacturing operation are really put through their paces. Our aluminium frame department’s processes & procedures were pushed to the limits, and we’re pleased to say that we’ve received 100% pass rate for a third time.

“Additionally, 43,578 new homes were registered with the National House Building Council for the quarter July to September 2018; 2,917 of those in Yorkshire and Humberside. Gaining the CENSolutions Third Party Certification positions us well to tender for new build contracts, and contribute to building quality, environmentally friendly homes.

Auditor Paul Scrivener, an Independent Agent for CENSolutions undertook Quickslide’s review, commenting:

“In my dealings with Quickslide over the past few years I can see that it is a business which strives to improve the quality of their products and manufacturing processes. The internal systems and procedures they have implemented ensure that they record any manufacturing faults, non-conformance reports or customer complaints. All faults, complaints, or non-conformance reports are then assessed during regular meetings and preventive action is implemented.

The recording of these type of errors are part of the quality system in-line with clause 7.3 of EN 14351, however, Quickslide are one of my top clients in controlling these; the internal systems they’ve implemented go even beyond CENSolutions requirements.”
