The British Fenestration Ratings Council (BFRC) is entering a new phase of development with a strong management team in place, including two industry experts: Richard Sellman as Managing Director and Richard Bate as Technical Director. Both are well known in the industry and BFRC is delighted to have them on its team to further support the sector in a time of significant change.
Richard Sellman explains how he will be using his insight and that of the team to further develop BFRC: “I am immensely looking forward to taking on this new role, and working to build on the strong foundation that has been laid by my predecessors. Richard Bate and the BFRC team, are currently finalising plans to introduce new offerings and solutions for the Fenestration industry. These are designed to support the product offering for manufacturers and installers and aid the drive towards reducing carbon consumption and improved energy efficiency. The new offerings and solutions will exceed the expected building regulation requirements over the next 5 – 10 years, helping to safeguard the industry for the future.”
Richard has over 30 years of experience in the IGU and window industry working in multi-national organisations as well as smaller UK based enterprises. Richard joined the BFRC in April having served on several GGF committees, including as Chair of the joint Glazing Components/Insulating Glass Manufacturers Group and Chair of the Glazing Executive (GE). He then represented the GE on the main GGF board. Richard has also been a member of the Standards committee and both B520 and CEN TC 129 WG4 (IGU EN 1279).
Richard Bate embarked upon his career working with market-leading companies within the Testing Inspection and Certification sector. In 2004, Richard co-founded Build Check, bringing to market a shared vision of a fresh approach to building regulation compliance testing and product certification, underpinned by excellent customer service. As Co-Founder and Technical Director, Richard was instrumental in leading the successful growth of the Build Check business and is well-recognised throughout the industry for his technical expertise, working closely with key industry groups.
BFRC is delighted to have both Richard Sellman and Richard Bate at the helm, with their collective and extensive sector knowledge, to work with the rest of the team to deliver solutions that fully support the industry in this next phase of development.
